ACS Awarded Long-Term Propel Funding for Zero Exclusion Zone in Hackney
The African Community School (ACS) is proud to announce that we have been awarded a significant long-term grant through the Propel Long-Term Grants Programme. We are one of 17 community-led organisations sharing over £19.7 million in funding to tackle deep-rooted inequalities across London.
With this vital multi-year support, ACS is working to establish a zero-exclusion zone in Hackney. Our goal is to shift power from institutions to communities and change exclusionary practices in local schools by combining:
-
Mentoring and supplementary education
-
Family support and school partnerships
-
Policy advocacy to influence borough-wide education systems
Kome Owuasu and Caroline Hickey of ACS shared: "Sustained funding gives us the stability and capacity to expand our outreach, strengthen partnerships, and deepen our impact... enabling us to continue driving meaningful change and creating more equitable opportunities within education and beyond."
The Propel initiative is powered by London Funders, with funding pooled through Collaboration Circle on behalf of City Bridge Foundation and The National Lottery Community Fund.
